How to Plan an Indoor Wedding (that will wow your guests)

Weddings

Who said you can’t have a gorgeous wedding indoors? In fact, some of the most spectacular wedding designs we’ve seen and added to your Pinterest boards have taken place indoors.

Whether you’re looking for a glam style wedding or something a little more edgy, an indoor wedding venue will allow you a lot more flexibility while also providing an actual structure to start building upon.

Today we’re sharing our tips on how you can plan an indoor wedding with incredible details that your guests will love and thank you for not making them sit in the hot sun all day!

Create a wedding mood board

Before you start booking vendors and making design decisions, it’s important  to start with an overall mood board of what your dream wedding vision is. This can be as simple as creating a Pinterest board or as detailed as some Photoshop art and Canva designs.

The important part here is that you don’t hold back on what you love. If you see an image you like, save it and make a note of what it was about this particular photo that inspired you. Was it the color palette? Was it the shape of the florals? Perhaps it was the emotion you felt when looking at this photo.

Whatever it is, go wild and create mood boards for each part of the wedding day. This is also something you can show your wedding planner, venue and other vendors down the road so they can help you make those design dreams come true!

Book a venue with good bones

Maybe we’re a little biased here but we’ve heard this many times from wedding planners such as the team at Cause We Can Events: “book a venue with good bones.” What this means is that if you can spend a little more time researching your wedding venue and finding one that has a beautiful style to begin with, you’ll spend less money trying to decorate it or hide its flaws.

Clients have often told us that White Star Station is just so unique and requires very little decor to make it shine. They love the brick walls and tall open ceilings which make the space feel huge.

When an indoor wedding venue is just naturally beautiful or has character, couples will only need to personalize it with decor items such as signage, florals and tabletop details.

Splurge on lighting

I’d be lying to you if I didn’t think lighting made a difference for indoor weddings. Whether you want romantic bistro lights, trendy LED uplights or both, having an indoor wedding venue well lit will make your venue stand out from the rest.

Lighting allows you to really control the mood for your guests. A lot of DJs can provide lighting packages for your dance floor or you can reach out to some of our favorite rental companies like All Occasions Party Rentals and see what they can provide.

Want to make the walls pink? You can do that with lighting! Want to have your names lit up on the dance floor? You can do that with lighting! And we can’t forget candle light. The most romantic of them all and something we love to see on our reception tables.
